Is it an Olive...does it really matter. A weed is only a Bonsai growing in the wrong place
Cheers

Weeds normaly have a pungent smell.
Where is this from Petra?
Most of the 'weeds' I can think of have little or no smell (or is my smeller just not working properly?)- blackberry, firethorn, hawthorn, couch grass, briza, Chilean needle grass, agapanthus, English bent grass, prunus, olive, dandelion, ryegrass, summergrass..........
As has already been stated, a weed is just a plant in the wrong place. Has nothing to do with the smell????

I dont know where it came from.Does it matter???? I have known this all my life since i was gardening at 8. And yes might be your your beak. Every plant has a smell, thats how most of them are remembered. Buy their smell.Blind fold me and let me smell and i could identify each & every one of them.I am an aromatherapist.

Most plants have a scent, be they weeds or otherwise. Scent can be used to identify a plant, sure. It can't be used to identify it is a weed or has weed potential though.
Describing the scent may aid in identification of this species, but not it's weed status.

Many of the saltbush family have red berries and often have brittle stems. Can't narrow down to species yet but I'm more confident now that we are going in the right direction. Atriplex is one genus, Enchylaena is another group also known as saltbushes. Mostly those red berries are edible and the leaves of some species are also eaten.
