New Beginning for an Old Fig

In late January I purchased this old root over rock fig, it was grown by the late Brian Sampson.

My first move was to defoliate so that I could see the branch structure, I wired the tree but was unsure about the pot, it was very heavy needing 2 people to lift and the tree was almost potbound.
I had an alternate pot which is perhaps a little too large but I expect the tree to benefit from the extra root space.
Some branches have been removed and others repositioned, I plan to extend the branches on the left while the right hand side needs to rcover some ramification after a couple of large branches were removed.

Hi Gerard,
Brian did a very good job of flattening those roots. I remember he did a demo at BNW some years ago and used teatowels to wrap and retain the roots. Obviously works.
I like what you're doing with the tree.
