Japanese Black Pine - initial styling (another one)

Here's a before and after for a tree that's just been styled.

The bottom left hand branch still needs to come down further but it's moved enough for now. Now it just needs time to ramify further and develop the crown.

That's one smashing JBP. Should have heaps of potential. Can't wait to see it in 5 years time.

Nice work Scott.
Spending money on some great stock there mate. You will have some great pines at this rate. Any shoots from the back that you will be able to bring down and fill the hole above the first branch mate? If not you will be able to use front foliage instead if you have to.

Thanks for the comments and I think 5 years should be about right to develop this one.
Tony, the branch above the gap will be grown down to fill in that area. I've had this tree for about 2 1/2 years now. It's got a great lower trunk but needed to be repotted and have some major root work done so that was priority one. I always work on the strength of the tree before any styling.
I don't buy trees all the time, but when I do, the stock has to be great. You pay more for it but you get so much more back. From great stock comes great trees! Average stock just takes bench space.

Great approach and no truer words.
The strength of the tree should be the primary consideration for any work done. Makes for a good future.

Nice stock Scott, and good styling too.
I can see a great tree in the coming years, along with a few grafts and maybe a little shorter once it fills in a bit.
5 years should get you there.

Thanks Scott. It definitely needs some work and time to ramify/age but it's showing potential so far.
