Jow, I just read your blog post on this too and then followed the link through to Makoto Azuma's website. Lots of very interesting art there, much of it definitely outside the realm of bonsai, but since most of us are plant-minded anyways, it's worth the visit. Pretty thought provoking. I thought your blog post was spot on talking about the display calling attention to technique and some of the more artificial aspects of our natural art. Even a naturalistic style bonsai is pretty artificial.

Thanks for sharing! You've made me think for sure, and that's a good thing. :geek:

Very interesting Jow,
Pictured appears to be a bonsai but I expect it is not imported because of the quarantine restrictions we have.
Since much of his work appears to be floral arrangement, this leads me to the question- Is it bonsai borrowed from a local grower? or is it a floral arrangement imitating bonsai?

As i understand it, it was purchased from a local nursery.

Hi mate, this looked interesting, so while I was in the city today I went to try and see it. With the elevator out of service, we climbed the 7 fights of stairs. When we got there the door was locked with no answer, there is no phone contact info either, so we left disappointed and mildly frustrated. Glad you enjoyed though.
