Hi guys and gals. Just thought I would put the $2 discount bin box I am working on up here. I am a complete beginner so all advice greatly appreciated! This will be a good reference point to see how it evolves.

This was when I first trimmed it up in summer.


How it is currently. Will probably put it in a larger pot in the spring and leave it grow until summer, I just wanted one of my small trees in a bonsai pot haha.

Lots of crossed-over wiring mate, try to have them all going the same way or you'll end up with some awkward scarring. Other than that a nice little starter.

As Pheonix says, Crossing the wire is a big no no as it will cut in and scar very easily.
Start the base, and work up the tree in a spiral, then start on the branches. At one end then spiral along it to the trunk then around the trunk next to the trunk wire, then out along the other branch.

Now take it all off and do it again properly

See the threads about boons workshops last year, and you will see that many who thought they wre ok at wiring were chastised for porr wiring by Boon
It is a hard skill to learn, but once you do it becomes second nature.

don't forget it should be designed as a 3d tree---back and front branches as well as left and right

Yeah is a bummer when you remeber after you do work to take a photo

do not worry as it will be ok for a few months at this time of year,
Taking wire off can cause more damage. I have broken branches removing wire more than putting it on

I have a Juniper that I have the same problem with, really wish I had a photo...

Thanks. I have 1 branch going back and to the right (at the same height as the second brance up). Not sure if thats the back branch I will keep and not sure where I will try and have one for the front yet.
