I've just been chatting with Mauro and he's very excited about the program.

In case people are unaware, he will be at the following clubs, on these dates

Bendigo Bonsai Society ... Friday 21 June Evening Demonstration; Saturday 22 June, Morning and Afternoon Workshops
Bonsai Society of Victoria ... Sunday 23 June, Morning and Afternoon Workshops; Monday 24 June Afternoon Workshop and Evening Critique
Waverley Bonsai Group ... Tuesday 25 June Afternoon Workshop and Evening Demonstration
Mornington Peninsula Bonsai Society ... Wednesday 26 June Morning and Afternoon Workshops; Evening Masterclass Demonstration
Geelong Bonsai Society ... Thursday 27 June Morning and Afternoon Workshops; Evening Demonstration
South Australian Bonsai Society ... Saturday 29 June Morning and Afternoon Workshops; Sunday 30 June Morning and Afternoon Workshops; Tuesday 2 July Evening Demonstration (all at The Goodwood Community Centre)
Bonsai Society of Western Australia ... Saturday 6 July Morning Demonstration and Afternoon Workshop; Sunday 7 July Morning Workshop and Afternoon Demonstration.

This program has been facilitated through the sponsorship of BFA (Southern) who have underwritten funding for Mauro's travel, with all clubs contributing payment back to BFA following the program, on a cost recovery basis.

The program provides participants with a unique opportunity to have guidance from Mauro, a leading force in European Bonsai :imo: :imo: :imo: , who has been very helpful in the process of arranging his visit ... over the past two years.

Thanks must go to Jenni Dicker from Travelworld Nowra ... who has been fantastic in organising Mauro's international airfares with Emirates. She is Maureen Anderson's (Bonsai Society of Australia) daughter ... and has really bent over backwards to do the best for us ... including the very best in prices! Thank you Jenni!!!

Mauro will have a very limited number of his books available for sale while he is here, for those who might be interested. They will weigh heavy so are likely to be in short supply.

I believe that all clubs have ample room for silent observers at Mauro's Workshops. I do know that some clubs have room still available for participants in his workshops ... please make contact with the respective clubs should you be interested in participating in one of Mauro's Workshops.

There is an open invitation for any visitor to attend the SA Bonsai Society Meeting on Tuesday 2 July (8pm) at The Goodwood Community Centre, where Mauro will be demonstrating.

Hope that everyone is able to participate, learn and enjoy this unique program.

Participants and bservers had a fantastic weekend. Mauro has a generous personality and is very respectful and ecouraging of everyone's bonsai.

He is a stickler for good wiring. 'it takes more time to do bad wiring and it is less effective'.

Our members who came along over the weekend learnt heaps.

We finish with a demonstration from Mauro on Tuesday 2 July at 8pm at ThecGoodwood Community Centre.

Hope to see lots of members and guests there. It is a free event open to other club members ... after all, we are aiming to improve the standard of bonsai overall!

Only 4 days to go for us in the West it looks like he is bringing cold weather with him 2 / 3 celsius bit of rain for a couple but none on the weekend but still cold.
Warmer during the day around 17 to 20.
Are there any pictures of his time in South Australia? would like to see some please.

Cheers Pup

I seen Mauro work on a Mugo Pine (purchased from a nursery I think) last night at the SA Bonsai Society monthly meeting. He started by drawing what he wanted to do on a white board then after watching him for 2 hours, cutting and wiring (explaining on the way) the tree looked pretty much what he visioned/draw on the board.

I could easliy sit and watch him work on a tree again. It was good to see what can be produced into a Bonsai from a tree that looked like, well a tree :tu2:

Had the pleasure of Mauro's company this afternoon for about an hour, as he came to give my trees the once over. He was very interested in the Melaleuca rhaphiophylla's.
Also he liked the Pinus pinea' I have, he remarked that they are very similar to Aleppo pines, except that the bark on the stone pine is better as it goes all the way up. His words not mine.

Looking forward to his demo's and workshops.

Cheers Pup
