I haven't really posted in this forum at all since I joined up, but when I get some more cash, I hope to get some more plants and be more proactive, but at this moment I'm just trying to keep my first tree alive!

A couple of weeks ago, my Azalea was knocked out of its pot and we put it back in with some more soil and put some fertiliser on it, but since then it looks as though it's slowly dying. Leaves have been turning brown and falling off and I'm afraid I've murdered it! Can someone tell me what I can do to help it, or if it's totally condemned? I really don't know anything about gardening at all (amateur hour!), so some pointers would be great! I've managed to maintain it for almost a year, so on my terms, I thought that was pretty good.

What were the roots Like and what sort of Fertiliser?

azaleas love a slightly acidic soil and do not like to have wet roots, they prefer be able to dry out a little between waterings.
I Fertilise mine lightly and never use Chook poo based fert ( Dynamic Lifter) on them as that will kill them quick smart on my benches

I find this particular Azalea quite tough. The leaf loss is probably due to the tree being out of the pot. However now you have it back in the pot and are providing normal care it should survive. You will find that in spring it will throw out lots of new growth.

If it was healthy before the tip and didn't spend too much time out of the pot, don't worry too much. Keep it moist, not wet and in a frost free area over Winter. You'll find a lot of Satsuki tend to drop their old leaves over the colder period. If it hasn't started to bud by end on August, try a little trunk scratch to see if it's still green. Dont fertilise until you see swelling buds ready to open.Considering this variety doesn't flower, it would be an opportunity for a good trim and clean up.
