Hi All
Decide to repot a few trees today mostly Japanese Maples and 1 English elm turtle back .

now to sort out this windows 8 and why it keeps uploading pics sideways???

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some nice ones there mate. Did those 2 in the middle come from leigh? they look like airlayers? I like them alot

I love the light blue pots with the 2 maples, the triple trunk at the end will be a cracker. Do you have a design in mind for the elm? Those gnarly little stumps are full of character, looking forward to seeing some branch structure to compliment. Gotta love ths time of year

No they came from a sale from a guy from NWB he had 4 I have kicking myself I did not buy all 4 ... they were airlayer's off a imported Japanese mountain maple I was told .
third last and 4 last are Leigh's trees .

yes I got a style in mind but hard to explain just need a few small ones to fill in a few gaps... the gap between the 2 looks HUGE in photo but not in real life strange! The clump on the right is branching up nicely the one on the left is a bit behind but with saying that It has came a long way.
But these are very hard to come by. Yes that last Maple is Beautiful in my eyes anyhow very unique I have not seen anything like it so it was a must purchase im trying to do the same with the one above in 5 yrs hopefully it will be just as nice .

I'm also trying to produce a Japanese Maple Raft ... ive never seen one in real life so thought i'd give it a whirl ..... just trying to nut out a few delima's at the moment .

Most of the trees show a lot of potential, there are lots of branching and great taper on those Maples.
For the Elm, I guess you'll have to let it guide you for now, but with the lower left stump it may even lend itself to a bit of a tilt with the branching heading to the left. Great stock and I can see you will have a lot of fun over the coming years.
PS, the gap doesnt bother me at all, if you see it as a problem im sure it will diminish once you start to build up some fine ramification Please keep us informed as the seasons progress, your eye for stock is superb

Here is my stock for my Japanese Maple rafts I am going to attempt to develop 2 and see which one works out the best.

THat first one will make a killer raft.

Thanks Dusty I have been lucky enough to have members on here to sell me top quality stock that they are willing to part with . So makes for a good head start and yes as you can see on the left clump I am focusing this on a raft low and branchy .... In 10 years it should be looking good .

What are your plans for the raft? Are you going to ring bark (essential ground layer) the section you want to be rooted into the ground and at what time of year will the procedure be carried out?
I apologise for the questions but i'm still learning a lot myself. I attempted a raft Green Island Fig from a cutting, unfortunately I work away and after returning home 10 weeks later I found sufficient roots that had dried out, would've been a killer tree but thats life. Hi jezz ring barking is one method and there is also a second method I am considering unsure of the name as I am only new as well the man I bought the stock from is to send me the method . Which I choose I'm not sure yet and the time I start is still up in the air .im doing research at the moment on these rafts as I want to sucessed in this style .

Hi Meagi , some nice stock there , now turn the camera 90 degree's when taking the pics and they should be good , me thinks , providing those new contraptions work like the old camera's .

Tried that alpine its this new windows 8 it turns photos as needed ive googled it and all sorts of ppl are having same trouble
Seems its a cliche in windows 8
Going to call help desk tomorrow !

try right clicking on photo go to edit and use the arrow rotate button left or right ans save.
see how that goes.

Tried that as well just reverts back once uploaded
Reckon I'll be erasing windows 8 and reprogramming to windows 7
Free of charge once I get through with these Microsoft ppl tomorrow !
