This was one of the first tree i planted here
P1070626.JPG
after purchasing the property
P1070629.JPG
then hiring a 10 tonne excavator to terrace the hillside .I have taken layers quite easy of this trunk , unfortunately they never survived . Needing to widen the rear access i have decided to chop it back and try to remove it after it shows signs of life .

I hacked it down from well over 2metre's to around 1metre high . If it does survive it will make for a very nice 3 man tree

. It is growing on a shale and clay base so it root mass should be reasonably flat .I intend to make a dam around the base and keep it flooded before collecting .Nothing venture nothing gained .

Hi Damian Bee , mate it has to go sooner or later so i might as well try to save it , nothing ventured nothing gained , even if it's only personal experience .If it does re-shoot it would make for a couple of good layers at the least .

Cheers Alpine
