No leaves yet mate ,wish I could say the same about my Japanese maples there popping out all over the place . English elms are starting to swell as well.
I have 1 English elm I dug last week on june and it has new shoots 10 cm long already !
I guess the old saying goes ...leave them alone they know what they are doing .
Cheers

Looks like a little beauty.
Looking forward to seeing the leaves!
Last I saw of my Oaks (3 weeks ago) the leaves were still green and not looking like they were going to drop at all this autumn / winter.

Although, I have no experience with Oak, this little tree is great, it has the right bones to develop an awesome shohin.
Find someone with a good Oak bonsai, and follow what they do religiously!
Saying that, I'd let the top terminal bud grow this season to try and close that scar.
