Does anyone grow English Oak up this way (Sunshine Coast/ Wide Bay)? Would they survive our Summer & do they need a cold dormancy period?
Thanks for any advice.
Mal.

Have no idea but they do good in Sydney.
They are prone to fungus in the Sydney Summer with the extra humidity, so do not know how they will go there

I know steve (aus bonsai grower nursery) at park ridge has them so they survive. Dont know if they thrive though. He also has maples out in full sun which they say you cant do here. Apparently they do get burnt but keep on growing just fine :lost:

Thanks for the replies.
Interesting that Steve grows maples in full sun. I wouldn't have thought they would survive our Summers.
I'm going to try a couple of Trident maples this year to see how they go. I had a couple when I lived on the coast but they couldn't handle the salty sea breezes. Hopefully they will do better here in Gympie.
As for the English Oak, I might give it a go just to see what happens.

I did a little more research and consensus is that they grow fine here (as long as you don't keep them in a super humid area). I picked up a small one today too so will see how it goes.
