My goodness, what the heck?

This afternoon I waded through the weeds, hacked through the vines, fought off fierce tigers and found a Trident Maple that I had forgotten all about :?
 She was a biggen from what I remembered.
Last time I laid eyes on it, it was a mere twig which I shoved into the tomato box and promptly forgot about :palm:

Don't let the phone camera fool you, it actually has nice taper and some nice lines to boot ;)
It is however firmly rooted into the ground like many others in that part of the yard :palm:

Nice trunk with some good sacrafice branches. It should grow well now it has taken hold.
Try some fertiliser really high in nitrogen and it should put some weight on. I used this stuff last year it had an npk
35 10 7 or something like that and all my trees grew like crazy with long internodes, corse growth and got thick fast .

Getting thick fast is good but I would be concerned about those long internodes. I assume you are going to cut right back lower than those long internodes again?

Damian, do you have a new pic of where you cut back to? That first branch looked like a good candidate to create a mini.
