Don't forget the CBS Show this weekend.

Along with everything else at the show I will be doing a light bend on this tree over the weekend.

Ah, you both saw through my understatement.

I will be applying the full traditional raffia and wire treatment to this one as it will be a major bend (Raffia; then vertical thin copper wire, then more raffia then coiled heavy copper wire over the top of the three layers]. I will be making bends and rearranging branches almost to the top of the tree.

I will take some pics for those who won't be there.

I assume it is a JBP ?
What are the dimensions of the trunk? Going to be interested in this for sure

I assume it is a JBP ?
The photo caption says Pinus banksiana. Named after Sir Joseph b. AKA 'Jack Pine'
One of the Canberra members showed one last year(?) with the smallest, neatest needles I have ever seen on a pine :!:

It is Pinus banksiana, the Jack pine form eastern USA and Canada. It is tall (about 1 mtr) and skinny(about 40mm) where the heaviest portion needs to be bent.

Just got back from the show. If you are not doing anything on Sunday I suggest you make a day of it and go. The trees are top notch. The Natives are the ones that caught my eye. Well done, great display.

Was at this show yesterday. :D
Great trees and good selection of natives and "traditionals".
Also saw Grant's "light bend". :o

Here is where we got to with the tree.

We did the bend yesterday morning and then let it rest.

We tweaked it and tightened it a bit more this morning and then I finished the wiring. I may still do some more branch work.

It would be an un-natural sinuous bunjin/literati style of course.

Will do a bigger post elsewhere with some photos taken by other people.(I forgot my camera).
