Just letting anyone in our area know......
We don't have the resources or members to mount a full show so we have elected to put on a display at one of the local nurseries.......

We'll have a range of bonsai on display, a couple of demonstrations and talks about bonsai as well as advice and encouragement all day.

Saturday September 28
Peard's nursery, Borella rd Albury
9:30 am through to about 3:30pm

We'd love to see any bonsai enthusiasts who can get to Albury that day.

Hi Shibui , mate not real fit at the moment  , Nothing a good lead tranquilizer wouldn't fix :o . I'll see you there and hope to see a few other fitter Ausbonsaier's and club Members there as well .

Should be in for a great day . Cheers Alpine

Today was the day.
We had elected to try to hold an outside display this time, partly to help reinforce the idea that bonsai are outside plants.
There was a bit of wind to contend with but only a couple of passing misty showers.
We had a really great response from people passing and from those who had come specially to see the display and find out more about bonsai. Numbers dropped off a bit in the afternoon. Apparently there was another event on somewhere that some people found more compelling than our bonsai :lost:
Alpine must have found some horse sedatives somewhere and managed to get there and stayed upright all day.
Here's a quick look at the display -

I'll come to the next one. Looks good.
Hope you're patient Time8, - last one was 2007.....

Maybe we should put the effort in more often???? We'll surely be assessing the effort:benifit ratios in the coming months to see whether we can raise enough enthusiasm to do another one next year.

It was certainly a busy day as far as i was concerned .I manage to get a couple of pics during the odd quiet time
P1080194.JPG
with a constant stream of interested people
P1080195.JPG
and several hours trimming the English Elm slab planting group i didn't get a clear shot of the display .Plenty of questions from the public and a few talks from Shibui kept us all busy . Hope we can manage another day out to further stimulate the public interest in the area .

And yes I had some tranquilizers but it wasn't "lead" or "horse" it was bonsai , the miracle tranquil sedative that i get lost in :? I manage to stay upright holding the building up as sitting was not on the cards today . I was sizing up the bales of sugar cane mulch for a rough therapeutic bed but if a laid down that would have been the end of my day .

Thanks Guys and Gals for another great day with "The Albury/Wodonga Bonsai Club"

Cheers Alpineart

I think the one you are talking about is the tall rock planting with a few shimpaku on it. That's Alpine's contribution to the show. The 'rock' is made from Hebel - aerated cement building blocks. the whole thing only weighs about 10 kg :crikey: and looks so much like real stone.
I'll bet he has already posted a thread about making and planting this one.

Thanks everyone else for the positive remarks. We only have a few members but what we lack in numbers we try to make up in enthusiasm. I'm willing to bet that after this we will have a few more members though. Many more really enthusiastic visitors that I have experienced at any past exhibition so hoping at least some turn into members.
