Chopped JBP

Hi All,

Another long term project a JBP which was field grown for about 15 years and potted up about 5 years ago, I purchased this quite awhile ago from Mr Hanh, I helped him out when he was chopping these down last year and this one stood out so I put a deposit on him and finally picked it up today, Yay! :)
Most likely this one will go into a large growing box and just keep developing, maybe in another 10 years it will see bonsai pot :|
Height: 32 cm
Base is about 15 cm wide.
Pretty bad pics  I will get a few more in future.

Very nice Elias, love the taper.

Does he still have much of this stock laying around? :P

I see about 5 years worth of growing to get some great branches then to get hte roots back, 10 years sounds about right.

lovely,

Jarrod

Hi Elias,

It is a nice one, given its present state, you have a chance to re-grow and re-style it all
by yourself -- from a start. It should be exciting.

I have got 5 of them from Mr. Hanh as well. Here is the last one that I posted viewtopic.php?f=104&t=1280 .

I think yours and mine are the same crop.

Cheers :)

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post a pic of this JBP from earlier this year. Still a long way to go, more balancing and refining but happy with it so far.

If I understood this video correctly you could good pads developed in 4 to 5 years...... there is a good chance I didn't understand that video correctly though haha, and something always goes wrong.

Hi Elias, I hope you are well.
You have done a great job with this one in a short time and it is set up for a great future.
Look forward to seeing it when it has filled out over the next couple of years :tu2:
Cheers, Dario.
PS I still have the jbp seedlings I got off you. The nebari's are great! Problem is I kept them in small pots and only planted into something bigger last year. Hoping that they start to take off this year with some heavy ferts so they can put on a bit of size for me.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments guys. These photos were taken after thinning out. To me the goal at this stage was not to create 'pads', but rather a time to grow the leader so it flows better with the trunk.

Good to hear you still keeping the trees alive Dario :tu: I haven't been feeding as much as I should be, but watering is already hard enough on crutches!
