On Tuesday at the Victorian Native Bonsai Club we had a discussion on banksias, here are some of the trees discussed.

This tree was given a hard prune and since the meeting has been reduced further by partial defoliation, it was wired and re-potted yesterday

This tree had an air layer placed 2 weeks ago. Received a heavy prune and has since been wired and potted

I had the opinion that this was one of the many varieties of B.marginata but we are not convinced. There is a strong belief that it is a variety of integrifolia.
It is being researched by one of the local native plant groups.

This tree has me stumped.
For a long time I believed it to be B.integrifolia, (which can have serrated leaves on juvenile foliage) but I believe the leaves are more serrated and unusually broad for integrifolia. This is also being looked at by the local native plant group.

Hi Gerard.
I'm no expert but maybe the last one is oblongifolia. Spelling? I can't quite tell the difference between it and integrifolia yet.
Nice stock

Hi Boics, mine are slow to move this year, they are in full sun but the lack of warm sunny days has been a factor. I am not certain they have all started to move but some have been growing a lot. I always repot after they start to show new growth, if yours had a repot in the winter I suspect this would slow things down.

Thanks Squizz,
B.oblongifolia is a very likely possibility.
