Looks like sticky bubbles? Probably has something in it, and I'm keeping it away from my bonsai.

Looks like someone spat on your tree!!
Seriously though, looks to be Spittlebug... which I've never heard of until now:
Summary
Spittlebugs (family Aphrophoridae) are represented in Australia by a number of small to medium sized brownish sap-feeding insects. The name "spittlebugs" comes from the ability of each nymph to produce a mass of bubbly spittle in which it lives and feeds. The spittle is presumed to help prevent dehydration but it may also assist in repelling predators and parasites. This paper (first link below) adds a new species, Anyllis spinostylus from Tasmania, to the genus Anyllis which now has three species, all restricted to Australia, the other two being Anyllis leiala, widespread in eastern Australia from Queensland to Tasmania and Anyllis tiegsi from NSW and Victoria.

You got it. Just squash the bubbles afew times ----- there is a bug inside chewing on your plant -- pretty easy to controljust squash em. I regularly get them on figs in summer
