Early Christmas present from Ikea

Well, my substantially better half rung me from half across the country, very excitedly, to say that Ikea had bonsai and I was getting an early Christmas present. The photo followed shortly after. But by then I'd already got a fair idea that this would have to be posted under "progression" (as there's no "sticks in pots" category :D )

Anyway, a cute shuihan penjing in need of some trimming and training.

Woollies already have figs glued into pots for sale $25 each for a tree that is already half dead.

Complete with "pond" and bridge and mountain.

Some sort of juniper. Reasonable movement in the pencil-thick trunk - looks like an airlayer going by the spag moss at the base.
