Lots of whitefly have arrived back in the garden this week, I hope it is not as bad as last year. This critter also appeared I have not seen one of these before does anyone know him?

I don't believe the whitefly you speak of are actually whitefly. I'm off the impression they are more likely leaf hoppers (potato). Search for leaf hoppers and see the pics from me and others. Can't help you with this critter though sorry!

This looks like one of the many leaf hopper species to me. I have not really associated them as being nuisance and hurting plants as I rarely see a huge number of them on the same plant. Usually, you just see one or two on any one plant. They are fascinating little critters and the many forms and colors make them great for macro photography.

I agree with Dennis. Some sort of leaf hopper I think.

Here is one of the threads I was referring too Gerard.

Hope it helps I've been noticing that the buggers are back a bit but comparing dates and history in this thread leads me to believe that the issue is not as bad this year compared to last at the same time...

I'd be interested to hear if your whiteflys are indeed the leaf hoppers.

Upon closer inspection of your photo it would seem very plausible that this is yet another species of these buggers!
