This was collected back in Winter 2012
SANY0207.JPG
SANY0208.JPG
, basically trimmed by roo's or wallabies including the trunk creating a natural shari
SANY0209.JPG
and grown unhindered into a leggy tree.It has survived collection and the roots are growing out the bottom of the pot
P1080831.JPG
P1080832.JPG
.Time for a basic wire and needle pluck for a future design
P1080843.JPG
P1080844.JPG
. No need for neat wiring , the shari was chewed out by the wildlife so i guess wire slapped on will do the job i require

.
Cheers Alpineart

Hi Andrew F , mate it's fairly ordinary material but the uniqueness is the sub species of Nigra that is very rare up here .The wildlife do a good job on the shari side of things and plenty is available around the hills . Its reasonably old so i had to carve the dead wood out in order to get a bend in there without splitting or separating the bark from the live wood .
I plan to continue the shari to the ground level and further up the trunk so the bends can be enhanced , but it will be slow and steady on this specimen , it would be a shame to kill it now and i can certainly kill them .
Cheers Alpine

This has had a good workout
P1120809.JPG
, last night at our club meeting I hacked it back to open up and reveal whats inside
P1120812.JPG
P1120813.JPG
. Today i put a little bit of effort into the new basic shape
P1120819.JPG
P1120815.JPG
P1120816.JPG

, not everyone's cuppa but I like the progress . The branches to be jinned will need to be sorted , most likely small stubs rather than curved jins.
Cheers . Alpineart

I am on the "I'm liking it" team too

15 years down the road when it is refined and fattened up it will look the goods.

HI Jow, mate it is uniquely different but ideal material to work with .
Hi Bodhi , got enough plain Janes around here , time to make a few unusual works with all the older yamadori that been sitting idle for too long . Will slip it into a bigger pot when i can find a vacant one .
Hi boom64 , mate I've been call worse

some of the bends need a bit more of a kink in keeping with the trunk , time will tell .
Cheers Guys . Alpine
