Another JBP

So I mentioned in my thread with the beginings of my literati JBP that I was very tempted by another tree that was at Bonsai south, but it was a bit out of reach price wise, well......
I picked up some extra cash work this weekend and so I decided I had to get back up there and grab this tree before anybody else did. Im not sure why exactly but I had an itch with this one that needed to be scratched
So this is the tree

And here it is after the work I have done so far

I have found that the more you delve into this the braver you get, and I think this is definitely the bravest I have been with styling a tree (i just hope I havent pushed it too far, but I think it's ok). There a still one or two things to be removed, and some week branches that will need to grow out in order to fill the role I have in mind for them, but on the whole I think its "bones" are there.
Thoughts would be great

Nice elegant trunk shape there
The cascade branch needs some more movement as it looks far too straight to me. can you get a bend in it similar to the curve in the trunk?

Nice work, I agree with ken re movement in the cascade, I also think it would look good if that cascade became a jin...

When I first opened this post in my head I was thinking remove the entire left branch.
Scrolling down I see the exact image I had in my mind, looks great !

Lovely tree and great improvement.
Can the right angle bend be increased at all to make it tighter?

Well, time to re-visit this one after a bit over 4 years
In the time since the last update i have done.... nothing!
I have just let this one go, let the wire cut in, not cut candles, nothing at all for the last 4 growing seasons, so yesterday I got my act together and completely thinned the tree out, gave it a bit of a prune and decided I would re style it
Here it is 4 and a bit years from the last pic, thinned and very old wire removed

So, crazy straight trunk, terrible right angle at the first direction change, but...... great branch development and considerable ramification to work with, time and nothing else at work
Some of the trees features, the first shari is natural, the second bit is dieback from the removal of a branch very early on

Proposed angle change

And after styling

All in all time is the ultimate artist with this one, but from here on out I dont think i'll leave it as long between workings
Cheers

Any chance of putting a big bend in the straight bit?

Definitely a step up ... no doubt.
I think that with a reduction in needle size and a bit more ramification this is going to look pretty sweet. That 90deg bend is kind of extreme but the change of angle definitely helps to soften it.
What are your plans going forward Kez? I kind of see the leading left branch extending out even further and refining the apex out will give this a nice dynamic feel ... compress the right - extend the left kind of thing.
Always cool to see old threads revived with a new lease on life! Thanks for posting.

I think just see what it does after a candle cut this summer and then maybe pot it up, it could do with something better than that raggedy old tub haha
I think with a touch more ramification and needle reduction I can split the pads up a bit and help make the foliage pads a bit more dynamic
