Hi everyone!
I have a new bonsai I bought only a few days ago, and I am unsure as to what kind it is. It has a pale smooth trunk and leaves with jagged edges that are alternating along the branches. Is it an inside or outside plant? I have string on it at the moment but what wire is best? I also have taken off the layer of rocks from the top to help it breathe but how much should I water my plant. It has new little growths that seem to be a few mm bigger then when I got it, so maybe it is fast growing?

I live in a part of Victoria which is half an hour from the beach, and we have rather hot summers and chilly winters with no snow. I hope this is enough information to help solve what sort this it, it would be a big help!

Looks like Chinese Elm to me.

All plants are outdoor plants, some can tolerate being indoors though for a period of time.
In regards to watering, check how moist/dry the soil is and water accordingly. Good luck with it, plenty of knowledge and friendly people on the forum to help.

I am inclined to think this is Zelcova serrata, Japanese grey bark elm. A close up of the leaves would help.
