Was just looking at Japanese Yahoo Auctions and came across this interesting old pot. Apparently was made by a fella by the name of Ninmatsu Uno (Born 1864 - Died 1937) who was associated with a temple in Kyoto.

Heres the link for this who might be interested

This one was made by a potter by the name of Shimaoka (Born 1918 Died 2007). Starting price was ¥10,000 ($100) and with 3 days to go on the Auction, its already up to ¥61,000 ($610). I'm imagining that Shimaoka was quite famous for his pots hence the price that its going to fetch

Thanks Webos....plenty of thought invoking images here! While I find the second pot beautiful (and I think I have an idea of how to reproduce it... :P ), for me the first pot has 'it'.

A wonderful thing about pottery that appears to be less refined is that it actually takes more skill to be SUCCESSFUL than the smoothly beautiful.
Please post more pots as you find them.
