Crepe Myrtle "Not dead yet"

This was collected back on 29-8-2012 and potted up in a plastic pot

. I thought the trunk had slowly died as it refused to sprout so it was thrown in the corner and neglected until this morning . I noticed a few shoots last week and was hoping the trunk was still alive , however it is just sprouting below the soil level

. Not one to waste a good trunk i decide to wind the shoots around the trunk and let it run riot .

In time i hope to utilize the movement in the trunk and carve the living daylights out of it for something a little different . I haven't a clue as to the colour but hey its alive , for now it will be thrown back in the corner and monitored to see what happens .

Cheers .Alpineart

Hi Alpineart,

You're pretty lucky with this one. In my experience crepe myrtle are hit and miss ie. they either flourish or they fail regardless of the soil and other conditions. I guess you found one that wants to kick on.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Brad.

Hi Alpineart,

I can imagine you wanting the top shoot but I think your perseverance will pay off. You should have a good flowering beauty of a bonsai in a few years. :tu:

Cheers mate,

Brad.

Hi Brad , it will take a few years to achieve the basics required to produce a good trainer to work with , but i sure it will be worth it .

Hi Bodhi , mate with all the dead material here from this Summer i have to utilize and restyle plenty of trunks , others will have a one way trip to the recycling yard .

Cheers Guys .
