I purchase this tree at the market day in March 2014 from a very nice bloke :-)

Amazed it had not gone earlier in the day, so came home with me for the remains of my wallet contents
thought i will post it here to start a progression on it so al can see the journey it might take. Suffice to say it will be substantially smaller when I am finished with it :-)

Hi Ken,
Looks pretty leggy,
Either prune hard now, or wire creatively to fill some gaps...

I think both methods will be used to bring it back in over time

Sorry, but I want to see more!
Selfish I know, my old eyes just can't see that much detail in that ONE picture.

Cheers

Any update on this one Ken? Branches and foliage getting any closer in?

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Yes they certainly are improving
I took it to Canberra as one of my options for a workshop with Pavel, and we picked the other tree to work on.
Even so i asked him to sketch a design for this one and will do the work as a demo at the School show in October :fc:

It should be exciting and interestign to see how well it turns out to the design :-)

That's awesome Ken! Should be a nice little progression once it's done. Was the sketch your idea or his? Either way good on him for doing it. Would love to see a photo of the sketch when you get a chance. Also very jealous of the Canberra trip, looked like everyone that attended had an amazing time.

I thought I had updated this after our school demo but obviously not eh!
The demo was great and the tree cooperated nicely to conform quite readily to the sketch that Pavel made at Bonsai week back in March.

Now just recovering and the foliage will be refined over the next few months, then a pot will be found for it next year.
