[ID] ID needed

This plant was in the garden until I found it in mid-summer looking almost dead. All leaves were brown and dry, so I quickly dug it up and put it in a pot, watered it and it started to get some green shoots. I've chopped off the dead branches and leaves, and this is what I'm left with. I have no idea what species this is, if anyone is able identify it to species or even genus, I will be most appreciative!

I think its a syzygium of some kind. Possibly tiny trev

I was going to say camelia too, but it doesnt have the serrated edges though im not sure if all camelias have the serrated edges or not

Thank you all for the suggestions :tu2:

After looking at some pictures of the species you have suggested, I think it is most likely a Syzygium. :)

Now here's to hoping I can turn it into something semi resembling a bonsai :D
