Large, deep wounds. Is this canker?

Hi there,
I have started to notice some large, deep lesions appear on the trunks and branches of some of my trees. Did some googling and found some information about bacterial canker. I am very worried because the wounds are very deep and appear to be spreading. They are appearing on healthy trees and healthy branches but so far there hasn't been any obvious dieback.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
