Hi everyone,

I just purchased this Taiwan Maple forrest. Does anyone have any experience with Taiwan Maples in Sydney or similar climates?

I'm in Sydney and my Japanese Maples have taken a beating over Summer, while my Trident Maples have done a bit better.

Thanks!

Hey Josh
Mate firstly you have got your hands on some very nice stock lately... You are sure in for a good time. :hooray:
I just got a couple of seedlings of acer oliverianum, don't know if it's a Taiwan maple or just a maple from Taiwan, and they are growing like a weed up here. In full sun until about midday and I haven't even had a leave burn yet...I got it as a 30cm seedling in oct last year and it's creeping over 6 foot now...
As I said before I don't know if it's the same species, my leaves look more like a Japanese maple though... Maybe a bit thicker leaves but they do well in my sun up here.
Good luck with it, you have a nice setting there
Grant

Hi joshw,

Excellent forest. Which nursery did you purchase it from?

Thanks,

Brad.

Yep that's right, I bought it on ebay from padre pio. As I have got more interested in bonsai I have moved away from buying pre-styled / pre potted trees and have instead focused on getting advanced starters, but there was something about this forrest I couldnt resist.

Anyway it gets delivered on Monday - I can't wait...
