Australian Potters - Pat Kennedy

The Holy Grail of the Bonsai World : A Pat Kennedy Pot! I fell in love with his pots. I have never seen such beauty in a bonsai pot. Considering my bonsai are primarily Australian Natives, they look so beautiful with his handcrafted pots. I remember seeing them so many years ago and decided once I got some money, I'd purchase some. These are the ones that I haven't used yet, but once spring comes I'll probably use a lot of them with their new tenants.

After seeing the post about people wanting to have more classical pots made by Australian Potters, I can't really understand why. I just love what Pat and so many other potters are doing for Australian Bonsai. It is so wonderful that we haven't gone the way of copying Japan or China in that regard, as we have the most beautiful and special flora in the world, that we should naturally want to embody that with our uniquely Australian potters to match. From all the different potters out there, I would say I love what most of them are doing, but there is just something uniquely Australian about Pat Kennedy's pots that I take such a shining to.

Another thing that I am bewildered by, is people that think a great pot would detract from a bonsai. To me, this is like not wanting to dress handsomely and being afraid that people will only take you for face value. I couldn't think of anything more complimentary to a great bonsai, than an equally great pot. Otherwise, you might as well just display your best bonsai in wooden crates? After all, the art of bonsai is all about constant improvement and aesthetic beauty. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I also find that ironically, spending a lot of money on a pot that is MEANT to be fancy looking is overkill, which is why I love our potters, because they make pots to match the ruggedness of our unique environment. This in itself is what makes them blend so perfectly.

:crikey: this is just my :2c: :imo: and probably only relevant to :flag: , so grab a  , support :aussie: potters and :worship: your pot, while your other bonsai grow  with envy wanting to live in these pots. :tu2:

Sorry, but if you are bored at the present and wanting a quiz, I just realized after I'd taken this photo, that one of the pots is not a Pat Kennedy pot, but one I picked up at a convention. I wonder if anyone can guess which one, and who actually made the odd one out.

Nope, that's one of Pats too. I have one the same.
Great collection Bbman!
I love the glimpse of glaze on the pot second from the left on the middle shelf. Any chance on a picture of that one?

Regards,
Steven

Sure thing Steven. :D It looks even more beautiful seeing it up front. Unfortunately on our back deck we don't get a lot of light, and as such, the colours don't come up as well without full light in the above picture from a digital camera.

Yes, kudos to you... that is correct, this is not a Pat Kennedy pot. However I think Steven may have surreptitiously recognized it as a PK imposter.
