Hi all,

I thought I would put up some pics of my new pot...It was made during a pottery course down here in Canberra.

Let me know what you think...

Cheers

Scott.

very cool for first attempt. It adds a great dimension if you are designing your own trees and your own pots. A skill I would love to have and the time to do.

Very nice first pot Scott!
Did the glaze turn out the way you were hoping?
Do you have a bonsai in mind to put in it?

Regards,
Steven

Thanks for the comments...

Yeah steven the glaze came out just as planned, it would have to be the best beginners glaze because it was just a quick dip and came out excellent! I made it a bit thin on the edges so that it would go the browny orange colour. i especially like the dripping effect that the pot has at the bottom in some places.

I was thinking of putting a shohin maple in it maybe an acer palmatum for the strong red autumn colour...just have to work on a tree now! Unfortunately i think most of my trees would be a fews off a bonsai pot.

For anyone reading this, contemplating having a go at pottery, check out your local society and look out for classes. Making my own pots has been more fulfilling than I ever imagined! Definitely give it a go!

Cheers

Scott

The pot is really nice and the glaze is idea for deciduous trees. An elm would look good in it as well. I am impressed with your success.

Hi Scott, did you ever find a tree to reside in this pot? I'm keen to see what species you chose to compliment the glaze colour ... (I have a similar colour pot that currently sits empty ... ;) )

Nice pot btw ;)

Definitely a beautiful little pot, very well done for a first go. (Are you sure this was your first attempt?) :tu: I too would like to see what you've put in it, or what you put in it when you do. Val Garth
