Just interested to see how many people here are members of the Bonsai Society of South Australia? I've just joined and will go to my first meeting next week. I'm already a member of the Northern Districts Bonsai Club, and have been mulling over whether or not to join for ages (Tuesday evening meetings are a bit of a pain). Anyhoo, I bumped into their stall at the Home Show this weekend, and met Phillip Ekers (the secretary), as well an another lovely lady who I've already forgotten the name of. Decided to just join there, and stop procrastinating.

The Northern Districts club is very small in comparison - most of the time we get maybe up to a dozen people attend each meeting/workshop, so the SA one will be a big change I think!

I am not a member but have visited many times as a guest or demonstrator.

They are a very active club with many members; and they are building up for the 2015 AABC Convention which will be in May 2015.

Hi Grant, yeah I've heard there are around 70 or so members at each meeting/workshop (and many more other members). Your name is familiar actually - I think I saw it in one of the newsletters ( they gave me a few back issues when I joined). Can't wait to go to a meeting and meet lots of new people and learn a bit more about what the hell I'm (meant to be) doing! I'm very much a beginner at this, but I've been really interested in bonsai for years.

Not a member now, but I was when I lived in Darwin. Even made it to a few meetings, believe it or not and they had me give them a talk at one of their meetings (must have been a slow month  ) Really great mob of people, friendly and welcoming. I feel sure you will enjoy and gain a lot from your association with the Club.

I am a new member and have been to two meetings and one "beginner class" now.

I am involved with many other clubs, including being on committee for a car club that I have been with for 6 years now. I have never been around such an inviting, happy, positive group of people. I find myself laughing through the meeting, being introduced to new people, getting brilliant advice. I have learnt a lot from the meetings and the critiquing, which has always been given in a positive and encouraging way.

I can't thank the club enough for their help so far, the atmosphere is very addictive. I am looking forward to more meetings, workshops and digs in the future :)

Laurie (aka Mack, the new nickname I was given last night at the meeting)

I'm too far away to join myself, but hopefully I can make it to their annual show in October this year.
