G'day,
I got this from a Nursery a few month ago. It has well recovered from heavy root pruning now and shooting new leaves now. I did try to wire the first right branch to bring it down 2 months ago and manage to crack it...It hasn't died off and I have tied it hoping for the crack to be filled overtime....Will it?
Cheers,
Pierre

if It hasn't died off then there is still enough cambium (live wood) supplying the foliage.
I'm not so sure about healing of this particular species but in time (which varies) most such mishaps will naturally heal and re-strengthen.
I'd just be careful of this branch for the next 6 months to a year.

Thanks Bois, will definitely fight the temptation to bend this branch...

I saw somewhere experienced grower using super glue to glue branches like this, and he said they heal very well. Just for the future perhaps it can help.

I too have read this before Neli and here is where I read it:

I was actually going to write this but was unsure of exactly where to place the glue.

You put it on the broken surface, so they glue back together.

Seems like as long as the glue is NOT on the cambium it should work. I doubt it would heal if you glued over the cambium? I happen to have a busted branch and some super glue so maybe I'll give it a try.

I glue even the broken fins of my koi with superglue.

I superglue cracked branches "regularly" and it works a treat

I use PVA glue for sealing cut branches and wood preservative...Maybe it can work but it is not fast drying so You will need to brace the branch till the glue dries.
