Lucky dip at the nursery today.

Today I went up to Perth's biggest whole sale nursery to see if I could find some decent stock. I ended picking a few of these guys up not really knowing what was below the soil because they were so root bound there was no way of checking but at $10 each I decided why not. I decided to check one so I knew what I had invested in and was very pleased to find a decent trunk with plenty of tapper. I'm terrible with photos so it doesn't to the tree any justice but I think its nice enough to warrant grabbing a couple more of these bad girls
. Not having much knowledge on what decent stock is, what do you guys think?

Oh yeah its Melaleuca lateritia and the base is a bit bigger than a soft drink can.

Nice pick up Izzykay. It's great when you find what's under the soil is even better than you thought. Occasionally you get a win. Be interesting to see once you thin out some of the trunks. Gunna be hard to pick a trunk line with so many options . Very good score for $10

Yes from benara. A few more are there but its a mystery as to what could be under the surface. One of the most root bound trees I have ever seen it had hundreds of roots that had pushed up to the surface and died. I have a few more but ill wait till it warms up to do any work.

Quick update on this, photos are a couple months old but I have not done anything but let them both grow.
Got to decide between going with one trunk or keeping the lot and doing something a bit different. This would be the front keeping all trunks but there are two good single trunk options from side views.

Not bad form!
Think the branch on your semi cascade is a tad bit straight - might be a bit late but Windswept may be an option...
I think it's great when you actually have a go, it can be very daunting but exciting at the same time! Perhaps s few more shots, much closer and a few more angles certainly would make it easier to get a better idea.
