Hey guys,
Already had one thread identifying this tree and we believe it may be the ever changing baeckea/babingtonia/Sannantha (?)
But now a friend and I are looking for a b8t more info on when to dig it out. Hes been looking out for it for around 12monts. Hes cut the radial roots about 6months ago ajd also really cut it back as well then.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Lol thanks hugh. The pictures honestly dont do it justice at all it is amazing so we are trying to do as much research as possible to make sure it lives. Were planning to document the experience as much as possible.

good plan mate careful consideration needs to be made with material of this caliber!
If you get a closer more detailed picture of the foliage it will be far easier to tell if it is Baekea aka. babingtonia, sanantha.
If so from my experience they handle look work and a fair amount of foliage removal back to existing foliage rather well. Mine is root pruned in late spring/summer with fantastic results as well as hard pruning at that time of year. Im sure though early spring will be absolutely fine to collect with a nice root ball.

What weve been thinking is oje person ratchet strapping it while mounted to the car and the other person with a saw, crowbar working it out of the ground slowly. Lol its definitely going to need two of us to lift the bugger in the trailer anyway.

I repot mine in Sept - Oct and when I first put into a Bonsai i took about 1/2 - 2/3 the roots off. They are Quite hardy and robust.
When collection from the ground I would keep as much of the root ball as i could and then reduce the size of it over a few years. Lots of water and seasol after collection.

Thanks for all of the help ken, friend and I have settles on removing around sept/oct. More when the weather is warming up not cooling down.
