I found some of these at Bunnings today marked down from $10 to $4.50. I was pretty happy because I have been chassing some small Shimpaku and all you guys had depleted Ray's stocks.
Just wondering if any one can explain what the x-media means is that dwarf. Is that normal for shimpaku or have I got hold of a very slow growing shrub?
I found this info on one site.
A vase shaped shrub with dark green foliage. Usually reaches less than 1M high in 10 years. The oldest bonsai in the world is of this variety.

It is a hybrid of Blauws as far as I know. When Bob Asquith had his nursery he bought a lot of them. The he was told that was the case.
Then they changed there mind.
It was we are told, to differentiate from Sargentii!! which is supposedly the correct one.
The only difference is the word Shimpaku is Japanese for Juniper.
I love to confuse you Bretts
Now you might get a qualified Horticulturist or even our own Botanist to explain it to us.

Back in November I dug a Juniperus X Media "Blue and Gold". Would this be the same as the shimpaku apart from the colour?

I think this is what is meant by the term Hybrid. X media is what I am led to believe means first X.
