I Won this tree in the Raffle at Bonsai by the harbour in 2010, and have taken several layers off the original tree,

and this is a story of the stump section to show how a 2 inch diameter stump can be developed into a bonsai in a relatively short time.

Hopefully this will develop into a nice tree, and also show what can be done when you cut that large stump back to nothing so it is not wasted.
I originally flat cut the tree under the layer, than after it a had reshot, selected the new leader and slant cut the trunk away from the leader to provide taper. I always use cut paste on all my cuts on branches that have lignified.

The branching was wired into place and allowed to expand and I am now building the Ramification on the tree.
yes like all my tree is planted in my Diatomite mix of 2/3 Diatomite, 1/3 Zeolite.
