hi everyone
i am reaching out to see if anyone has used any freight companies to send one or two bonsai or just plants in general in small quantity from metro melbourne to country victoria or interstate. i know of companies(cassaboo, van berkel, rangeview..) that do large quantities, but i am having trouble finding someone who delivers just one or two live plants.
i remember reading somewhere on this forum about someone sending a couple of starter plants to interstate. so if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Australia Post will. I have purchased many trees from Shibui Bonsai and they all have been sent via Oz Post.

All freight companies I have talked to will not take live cargo, including plants Tien. I use Aust post because it is my only option at the moment and delivery times are good, mostly just 2 days to capital cities. The longest was 7 days to Gold Coast. They seem to be quite good at handling parcels now - the chiefs know their future is in parcels and I'd say they have made sure that all employees know they cannot afford to damage goods and alienate customers. The only major damage I had was due to my faulty packaging. Otherwise just very occasional small twigs broken.
Careful packing should see the trees safely through the post but I will be interested to see if anyone comes up with other options.

G,day from the West, I have used Pack/Send from here with large and small trees, and I and the consignee are more than satisfied with them.
It might be difficult to find them, but I am sure if you Google you will find one near you.

can we get some ideas as to the costs for sending trees to interstate please.

i think it's of benefit to everyone to have an idea of this in order to extend our bonsai shopping destinations. i for one certainly don't want to miss out on some goodies or rarities simply because of the distance.

Both of these companies have online estimators. Cost is based on destination, size and weight of the package so you will need to know the postcode of where you want to send, length, width, height and approx weight of the package. Note that Aust post quote comes up on next day as the default. Click on regular for the realistic price.

For me, small boxes cost around $25 but a moving carton to SA is around $60. The more remote the destination the higher the price. Post to Broken Hill is quite a lot more than to Sydney for same sized parcel.
