This was collected 6 weeks ago and literally dropped onto the terrace with no care at all .Originally it was 2.5m high before the owner hacked it back to around 1 m high . Having been offered the job to re-landscape their front yard this was collected and has sprouted very well considering the root ball wasn't covered when dropped onto the garden . A quick trim this morning discovered 2 possible fronts so it wont get a serious work-over until it actually survives in this current pot . The base of the trunk is 250mm x 200mm , the pot is 500mm x350mm with only just enough room to get the base into it .The work platform is 1.2 long for reference .

Hoping to have a couple of these in my collection too, love the feel of the foilage

Ooh nice one Alpine they are as tough as old boots, with one exception they do not like to be bare rooted. Shoot back on old wood. Like fertiliser low in phosphorous. Mine thrive here in the west, cutting take readily in summer.

Hi Jason , mate its "Alpine" not "Bodhi" , I'm hoping it survives the potting stage considering it was dumped on the garden it should be good to grow .

Gidday Pup , seeing it sprouting after it was left sitting on the ground makes me think its a tough over sized cutting as it hasn't got much in the way of roots left .The owner tried cuttings but too no avail . He did mention Summer time was the best to do it but without success .

I did a little research this morning and typical of our native keep it low in phosphorous .

Hi ya mate how's that leg of yours better I hope? after I wrote my bit of what I know about them. I noticed yours was as near to bare rooted as you can get.
As for cuttings the old coke bottle trick worked for me, but it was slow. With honey

Hi Pup , mate the leg is as good as its going to get , which is about 50% but its moving and propping me up along the way .

The base is a bit like an onion however i did see some nice white fine roots during the potting up exercise so I'm hoping it will continue to recover . Nothing ventured nothing gained on this one .
