Following Lindsay's interesting foray into early Australian Bonsai I thought I would add some of what I have collected over the years.
One of the oldest books I have is one by Norio Kobayashi. I am assuming he is the father of Kunio Kobayashi. The book I have is the 11Th printing in 1962. It was originally published in 1950. It has some very famous trees in it.

I also have some 1980's editions of Bonsai Australia. Also some of Bonsai Down Under, and all three copies of Bonsai Australis.Some more to follow

I love those Deborah Koreshoff line drawings on the covers of Bonsai in Australia. superb.
I think that my copy of that old Kobayashi book is almost as battered as yours.

My first BDU is Summer 1981.

It was edited by David Rich, who I first bought trees and pots from. I still have some of his tokoname pots that were imported for him by Mr ? Bennett, megumi's husband.

I enjoyed visiting David. He was always very generous with his time.

And I also enjoy rereading my old BDU's on occasion as well.
