This is a tree i acquired 2 years ago. Not much going for it at the time. The foliage was weak and the tree in a state of neglect. I spent the past 2 years recovering the tree. the first year involved bringing the tree back to good health and the second fuelling the tree with new growth which was pruned back to significant lower shoots before styling in preparence for spring growth.
The tree was worked over a few hours with 3 major branches removed and the others places with the aid of raffia , tape and wire into the desired position. Fine wiring was carried out over the entirety of the tree. The jins will be further worked in the coming months once they have dried out and the shari re worked.
am very happy with the result! now it will rest and grow out over spring.

Love your work mate, especially the time spent bringing the tree to a better state of health before working on it.

G'day Hugh, I like the way this is going, really nice feel to the design. I can see this in a nice slightly rough literati pot.

I would probably shorten the new driftwood at the top by about 50% but that is just my view. Thanks for posting, Michael.

Masterful styling Hugh!

From a very ordinary tree to a very stylish one with great potential!

really nice styling mate. Love it. Great eye for the transformation.
Would you consider putting a bit of wire on the deadwood and applying some movement while the wood is still wet?
