Name and Location of a Nursery

Some years ago I went to a nursery located somewhere in Keysborough in Melbourne, It was located in the back yard of a house and at the time had lots of starter and mature bonsai. I have totally frustrated :palm: myself trying to find it again when last in Melbourne I remember the house had a tall hedge front fence but that's about it.
Any help as to the name and or address would be appreciated.

Regards
Father1

Check out the bonsai directory on this site.
There is a permanent link near the top of your page.

Hi Father1, I live not far from Keysborough and am not aware of a bonsai nursery like you describe? Closest would be GardenWorld on Springvale Road but its certainly not a backyard nursery - otherwise Bonsai Art in Heatherton. How long ago did you visit it?

A little further up the road is Bonsai Sensation in Narre Warren. It's a must see if you are looking for a good nursery to visit. Would be very keen to hear if there is one nearby to me that I am missing though!

It could be Williams nursery run by Ted Poynton , doubt it is still there though as Ted is getting on and his wife died a few years back.

Hi Pup,

Could have been it ... Williams Nursery was in Clayton (not too far from Keysborough), the Poyntons sold up about 5 years back, it is now a block of townhouses.
Ted and Shirley (still alive) still make it down to most of our club meetings and even made it to our show dinner this year!

Best,
Ryan

Sorry Ryan, about the mistake, I was told that she had past on , I did know she was very sick, so that is why I did not question it. He has still got a magnificent Angophora costata in the NBPCA.

No dramas Pup, their movement is restricted these days - but their enthusiasm certainly is not, yes I saw it last year while at the NBPCA, always puts a smile on Ted's face when somebody mentions it in a demo! :D The Poyntons are definite WBG club legends :tu: :aussie:

Yes he is one of natures gentlemen. Back in 2001 we had the AABC convention here. Unfortunately we did have some things stolen when it was open.
One was a pot that Mrs Pup bought when we were visiting his nursery a few years before.
When he was told of it, he sent a replacement pot to her, then worried about payment. Which was very well appreciated, by Mrs Pup.

Cheers Pup

Hi everyone
I'm in Melbourne over Xmas so I'll checkout the places you suggested. I think the nursery I was talking about may have been the one closed down because the owners were already elderly at that time and the gentleman was very helpful in giving me some tips with a few issues I had with a couple of my trees.

Great to know there is a forum like this. :tu:
