With 20 odd trunks to go i may just have to toss them into a barrow as i haven't prepared the grow beds .

Hi Mo' , mate these are just bloody big training pots or grow beds of a different kind ;) , This way i can rotate them for better even growth . The 2 little rear tree's are from a different batch but i wont mind if the colours are off as it will give the forest a different look and depth .

Some thread grafting may take place depending on time management .

Cheers .Alpine

The pots are absolutely massive, it's a wonder how you move them around to get the growth!

I agree, the varying colors will only add depth to the forest and with age, it will look magnificent.

:fc: you don't get a hernia trying to move these things around haha.

Hi Neli , very nice indeed :D .

Hi Mo' , mate I'm beyond help :( , but your more than welcome to visit anytime .

Hi rudy , mate these were part of a one off deal i put together with a few members a couple of years ago , they were originally from a Melbourne supplier who clean out his stock .

Cheers Alpine

This had a major trim and reduction over winter although to look at it you wouldn't think so
P1120154.JPG
P1120151.JPG
. I didn't have the time or the motivation to root prune so it was left along with plenty of others . A 4 hour work over and it will be maintained during the growing season
P1120157.JPG
P1120158.JPG
P1120159.JPG
. No fertilizer has been applied to any stock for 4 months so i had better get out there and do it in my spare time . The turntables work a treat when it comes to working on the tree's .

Looking good Alpine!
Still seem to be growing reasonably well considering the lack of ferts!

Hi Biocs , everything here in the potted department is growing well with little or no care over the least few months . The only plants that were worked over were the grow bed stock . Must be all that rain we've had , i have only watered once since the start of Winter , that was yesterday . Still didn't get around to fertilizing but it will happen one day .

Cheers . Alpine

Hi Alpine,
The no frills approach has certainly been paying off. Very very nice . Cheers John.

Hi boom64 , No frills , with the 600mm of rain we have had and more rain on the way tomorrow . The winds have done plenty of radical pruning with quite a lot of damage dampening the enthusiasm around here . Some of the grow beds are actually water logged even though they are all terraces . Foliage growth has been good so far , flowering wasn't so good with many plants here hit or miss .

Cheers . Alpine

This was re- potted last night unfortunately most of the pics didn't work. With the help of 2 likely candidates it was removed from the extra large pot
P1130272.JPG
, the roots were sliced off with a kitchen knife
P1130278.JPG
P1130285.JPG
and sections removed
P1130281.JPG
before placing back into a smaller training pot
P1130291.JPG
trim this morning and this is done for now
P1130292.JPG

P1130294.JPG

. I will be watching this over the growing season for new leaders to reduce the height of some of the tree's . Next year it will be re-potted into a large tray .
