Hi all,

I came across this picture of a eurpoean beach and was actually quite moved by the beauty. not just of the bonsai itself (great movement i think) but also the picture as a whole is amazing. Wouldnt mind blowing it up and hanging it in my hall hehe

Looks like the tree is bending toward the light :-)

Nice but I think the top section of the tree is to heavy. Love the pot and lower trunk tho

I know this tree, ummmmmmm, can't remember now, there was a full progression series, was it Walter Pall, or Craig Cousins?

A magnificent specimen. Just about a perfect pot/tree/top dressing combination me thinks.

Lovely tree!

I like where the moss is. Australians are known to put rings around the base of trees. Peter Adams commented on it and asked Ray Nesci why we do it, thinking it was for a specific purpose. Interesting huh?

We are taught at the school, when preparing trees for display, that moss works better as Islands on the soil rather than grouped around the base.
Dunno why ray might do it, The uneducated punters might prefer it maybe?

I noticed many trees at the opening of the National collection had this phenomenon of trunks ringed by moss then surrounded by gravel. I mentioned it to Grant. Maybe he thought it was directed at him but the only response I got was that's how we got the trees.
I was very happy to hear that the international guy at the Brisbane AABC made mention that he disliked how Aussies where doing this and as JayC mentioned Peter also stated a dislike.
I think it looks very fake. I don't mind the entire soil covered in moss sometimes though.
I love the beech. Look close enough and the top may start to look top heavy. It could take years to correct would it still be such a mesmerizing picture?
