Good evening all!

I earlier posted a thread on how to prepare a tree for a workshop. Well, that workshop was today.

I took this tree with me, purchased from Bonsai Mujo a few months ago:


Keeping in mind that this is not only my first workshop, but also the first time wiring a tree, I think I did alright

About an hour in, lots of branches gone and a bit of work done:

A HUGE thank you to all of the Bonsai Society of SA guys for being so positive, happy, and helping with my silly questions and lending me some tools. An even bigger thank you to Grant Bowie for the opportunity to meet and learn from him. I'm extremely happy with my tree!

Looks great. I look forward to seeing this tree as it progresses and it's first showing at a club night

Did you keep all the branches for cuttings?

What type of Juniper is it, Davurica, Procumbens??

I think Grant told me it's a Procumbens. I didn't take cuttings as I have heaps of Bougainvillea cuttings I'm currently working on. Didn't feel the need to keep these too

good work-I would put that leader out and down to the right and use the small left hand bit of growth on the leader as the new apex-suggestion only

Oh I'm going to cry! I've been taking really good care of it, not overwatering, making sure it gets only morning sun etc etc and I think it's dead!



I've only noticed it today, anything I can do or have I killed it!?

As is commonly said around here..... By the time a Juni shows signs of stress (Yellow, Dry etc) it could be too late!?!?
I fear the worst for this tree I'm afraid..

Personally I would think this looks like a lack of water issue to me.
Have you repotted this tree recently?
From what I can see the root ball and soil looks very tight and compact in the earlier pics.
Can you explain how you water this tree?

Sure. No reporting until next year I was told. I've had it 3 months and it was doing okay.

I water until the water starts coming out the bottom of the pot, and don't water again until the top soil is dry to touch. It takes a day or day and a half for that to happen. When I'm in a rush to get to work I tend to water every morning just in case.

I agree, it doesn't look good.

ha i was scrolling through checking this out and thought to myself! Went pretty hard on it, wonder if it will go like mine did??? and then i saw your newest posts!
I think the juni's you gotta take your time with... You start working them hard, reducing, bending and jining all in one go they just spit the dummy! and as mentioned above... by the time you see there not having a good time its too late!

i fear im in the same boat as you, only noticed my yesterday....
