Hi i am new on your site and am looking forward to chatting and sharing knowledge with you all.This is my acacia Baileyana. It is its first year in a real pot. It is 650mm high.

Wow great effort. Don't see too many Cootamundra Wattles as Bonsai. It's just great seeing less common Bonsai species.

Hey Chris,
I grew and shaped the tree in a growing bed for 8 years then successfully dug it up over a growing season by cutting through large roots bit by bit and feeding it to get fine feeder roots. Once out of the ground i have found it behaves like most of our common Bonsai.

I have had an acacia growing in the ground for a few years. I had eyed the sapling in the fron yard of my mother in laws house. It had self seeded and she had said I could have it. I was a bit shocked when she turned up one day with it bare rooted in a plastic bag. It had just been yanked out of the ground.
I planted it not expecting it to live but it shot back with half the trunk dead. This gave it an intresting feature and it has become quite big with the occasional trunk chop.
I just dug it out of the ground in one go and it is sitting in the shade house I hope it makes it.

Acacias should be hard a nails and can be treated quite roughly give decent after care I think

How is this one going Bodi?

Gone to the great Bonsai garden in the sky Bretts. One day it was great next week it was dead. Couldnt save it with good aftercare at all.

I thought about it a lot and came to the conclusion that it had reached the end of its life. 8 years in the ground, 2 in a grow box and 2 years in a Bonsai pot. Total..12 years, i think that is the baileyana prostrate's life expectancy.
