BSV Show Flyer - A4 PROOF 2014PSNoMargin.jpg
We have our annual show next week, I have been playing around with a few display options

The main focus of this display is the mini Japanese black pine. I am not completely comfortable with the flow and direction.
Should I stick with it as is or take away the japonica (quince) and have a two point display on a simple stand with the pine on a simple stand and the sisyrinchium as an accent

With small trees, getting the proportions of their companion plants is often difficult. I like all three, but the accent feels a bit big for the pine, as does the quince. Possibly something very minimal, like a small pot just covered with moss, a simple rock or something very tiny would go well.
I like them all. Displaying the little ones is a whole different art in itself.

for me the pine is too low
the top of the Quince should be at pot rim level IMHO

Nice trees, pots and stands.
The dark simple stands are nice for the display. (And the dark background. )
I agree with Ken about the heights. It the accent was on a slab and the quince was on the lowest stand.
The accent and quince say spring to me but I'm not sure that the pine fits with that. Maybe the budding in person does more than the photo.

Hi Gerard,
I feel that the movement of all three draws the eye towards the left, and then is lead away from the setting,
to an open space, rather than a closed triangle, keeping the eye from wandering away from the group.
I hope the images help to explain what I mean ?
Regards,
Paul.

I agree, the strong movement of all plants to the left, leads your eye away.
I feel that if the pine is the focal point, then the second tree and accent plant should lean towards the pine.

I would have them more on a level playing feild rather than up high on individual stands. i think the accent is far too big for the size of the focus tree. Maybe somewhere along this line may work, good luck with the display.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I had tried many configurations and concluded that the direcion of movement was wrong or the trees were too close to each other. It was a desperate attempt to make the stand work but it does not work with the pine. One of the smallest pines around it is a little big for this particular stand, it will work better on its own stand.
