Visit to Ray Nesci's Nursery for a present

Okay, I wonder, does this happen to any of you out there. My wife and I thought it would be a good idea to buy a friend a bonsai for his birthday, because he wanted plants for his balcony. So, I obliged to go and collect a nice present or 2 from Ray's stock. However, upon going out there, I found a nice big fig that I would give to him.... then the more I looked at it, the more I wanted it. So, I picked up 2 figs, one for him and one for me.... then the more I looked at both, the more I wanted both. Well... up until this point, I only had a very small Port Jackson Fig.... so now I have 3. Thus, I had to add more stock to the trolley to make sure I would give him some. I ended up getting a few more starters from Ray and a nice pot. But, fair dinkum, I just can't buy bonsai for others, ... because in my mind...if they turn around and say, 'thanks but no thanks', then obviously you need to purchase stock that you think is great stock too, in case you end up with it, but this just ruins me repeatedly, finding that I don't want to part with something that I buy as a present and I continually have to keep adding to the cart.

At $36 and $18 respectively, I found the above 2 Port Jacksons very good value. He has quite a few nice PJ's at this price point, but after seeing these 2, they just couldn't be put back. Great taper and a lot of options. I have zero experience with PJ's, so looking forward to getting stuck into them. Just a question to any PJ rogues, but do they tend to bulge if you have too many branches coming out from the same point?
