I bought a ficus benjamina from a garden centre over a year ago, as an experiment I thought I'd see some what I can do. It grew so very fast, it had wire marks in a few months. Did this and that and didn't like the look.
So I've chopped it!!
The roots are so cool,I've just gotta try something with it. Now hopefully a new leader n a thickening of the trunk.
Fingers crossed

Id say a new leader is not likely. I think these don't shoot back well from being cut hard from memory?
Good luck with it Ben.

Ben, although my 'hard' pruning was nowhere near as drastic as your 'chop', My F benjamina responded extremely well and is now 3 times the height it was at the time of the pruning. Let's hope yours responds as well as this.
