Although I'm not proclaiming these specimens as bonsai, I thought i'd post a couple of pics as someone might find they have value for curiosity's sake.

The initial purchase was made with the intention of developing a couple of nice ornamental potted trees. The pics provide a reasonable demonstration of what can be achieved with nothing but gentle tip pinching.

I love these trees and I'm kicking myself I didn't grab another couple of the Chinese junipers that were available at the time I purchased these two. They make a beautiful ornamental specimen (as well as outstanding bonsai-of course).

Here's a small C juniper group (I think these are 'sargentii) I put together recently from seven trees I had lying around. It's potted on a stone slab (1m long) with a muck wall. I put rocks on soil surface to stabilise the soil while the trees become established. A bit rough 'n' ready I'll grant you, but I'll give it the summer to settle in and take some better pics once it starts to lose that * I just finished putting it together* look
