Hi all
This thread is more to seek a valuation on this 900mm diameter by 400mm height pot. This pot did actually hold a bonsai, if you can believe it, and is a massive pot. It was imported in the 80s but not sure if from China or Japan. It takes two strong men to lift it and preferable 3 would make the job easier. My intention is to sell it but was hoping that any nursery or landscapers out there know the value of this type of pot as I have really nothing to compare it against. The round thing on the pots edge is a tennis ball for comparison.

That pot could come from Thailand or Vietnam too ....Some glazed stuff comes out of South Africa sometimes too but this does look like Chinese or Thai . But then again...............

Sorry, I'm not sure what its worth. Have you checked out any local pot makers for similar stuff?

Hey David I bought a similar pot last year. I had been after a 5 sided pot for my large grape but had spied a couple of 4 sided ones at a local nursery collecting dust. The guy stated that they where imported from China a while back. I knocked him down from $55 to $45 I think. When I got home I decided it was a better fit for the Orange tree

I reckon a "mame" would look great in such a pot. It would be a dynamic social experiment!
Good healthy exercise daily in lifting and turning your bonsai.
Just think, you will need three mates to assist you in repotting each year. Propagating good mateship.

Perhaps the same mates will assist you in carting the bonsai to the annual bonsai show. Again generating good mateship.
You could leave it on the floor for the organisers to place on the reinforced stand. They will talk about your bonsai for weeks!

Brett's got the right idea, Plant a fruiting tree such as a Pixie Peach, Lemon, Mandarin etc.

In answer to your question you should get $35.00 minimum for the pot if there are no chips.
